Using a fan controller?

I'm new at this and wanted to know the best way I should configure a new
system.
My Lian Li pc 60 case has three fans, front, back and blow hole. The ASUS
A8N SLI Premium has the CPU fan. I'm planning to use a Lian Li TR-3
controller.

Is the best configuration to let the ASUS Q-Fan control the CPU Fan and use
the controller for the case fans?
Seems like an obvious answer but this is the first time I've used a fan
controller.

Makes sense. If you can figure out how to program the
TR-3. The few comments I can find about it, suggest it
doesn't come with instructions. Somehow, you use two
buttons on the front to program it. So whether you use
it or not, really depends on whether you can decipher
how it works :-) The Lian Li web site isn't any help.
