Using a disk image of the NT4 PDC as a backup

I have read to take a BDC off-line prior to a PDC upgrade
to 2000 and AD, for fallback purposes. Shouldn't a person
be able to make an "Image or Clone" of the drive prior to
the upgrade and if the upgrade fails, switch drives and
bring the NT4 PDC back on-line?

Thanks for any info,
Scott

Have you ever had to fallback on an AD upgrade?

Yes but very rarely, it usually goes very smoothly and I have personally
done around 20 migrations as part of my consulting work.. I personally like
the idea of having a BDC available to fall back on. I usually install a
completely fresh BDC and promote that to PDC and upgrade that machine. That
way if things go bad I jsut promote the original PDC back to PDC and things
are back to where they were.
