I have installed the powerpoint 2003 viewer. I have Office 97 Pro on my
win98SE system.

The only way I can get the viewer to open is via the start menu entry -
if I click on the targeted file ppvwicon.exe which the shortcut seems to
point to, nothing happens.

I would like to put the viewer on a CD and take it along with me to view
a PP97 presentation saved to a saved to a CD. Can someone give me
instructions for saving a powerpoint 97 presentation to a CD and then
using the 2003 viewer? It seems to give a better picture quality with
the edges of text being cleaner, compared with the 97 viewer but I can't
seem to work out where the actual exe file is or how to control the
installation in order to pop it on the CD..

I have the downloaded 200e ppviewer.ex which contains a single file
ppviewer.msi, which when installed, produces a file ppvwicon.exe which
is what the shortcut on the start menu points to - but this can't be the
executable - and the shortcut is not the normal type.

Many thanks.

Robert, did you update the Windows 98SE Installer BEFORE installing the
viewer?

Thanks for the reply. Yes - I updated the installer, but it just goes
ahead and installs the viewer in a default location with no user input.
I tried the advice on the download page about admin settings for the
installer but although it accepted the input to install to a particular
location via the Star/run command, it just went ahead and ignored it

The only route to the viewer is via the Start Menu. Obviously I can put
the downloaded archive/zip file on a CD, but I was really hoping that I
could put the actual executable on the CD in the way that you can with
the 97 viewer - but there doesn't seem to be one - at least not one that
works by clicking. Clicking ppvwicon.exe doesn't do anything but
clicking the start menu item that points to it starts the viewer fine.
It's a puzzle.

The viewer is pptview.exe.
Locate the folder the viewer is in and put the seven files on the CD.

thanks for that Ron - just what I needed. Strange the way the start menu
link is configured not to point directly at that executable! Once again,
many thanks.

Thanks Austin - I'll have a look at those. Afraid that with a small
budget any solutions need to be cheap or preferably free!
