Tanya,
PowerPoint has many uses. Unfortunately, it is often misused and has a
neutral or negative impact on individual learning. However, there are
many ways to use it to improve individual learning. A well-designed
presentation can include mutliple media elements that help to reach
individuals with different learning styles (not stupid sounds and bells
and whistles, but relevant media elements that reinforce or expand on
major points). Interactive presentations can be developed to spark group
discussion or to provide specific help to students who run through (on
their own) presentations you create for them. Finally, students can
synthesize information and struggle to make sense out of it by creating
their own presentations. That's a quick and vague answer for a quick and
vague question. Do you have a more specific question?
