In AD Users & Computers, what does it mean when the user account icon has
grey hair instead of the standard black hair?

Thanks Tomasz, in this case it's a standard user account that has grey hair
and not a group. I can't seem to find a kb that explains the meaning.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for posting here.

Commonly, if a user group which member is greater than 500, the hair of the
icon will be gray.

And, in some situation, the hair of a user will be gray.

Create a new group, adding in a new user and an existing user. Initially,
the existing user appeared normally and the new user appeared grey. After
replication took place (15 to 20 minutes), both users appeared normally.

So, if you network is very large, it will take some or a long time to
replicate this.

We can force the Active Directory sync by using the repadmin.exe. It's a
Windows 2000 support tools utility.
