Simple network topology, one subnet. I have users that can log on to the
network but cannot access network shares. When they open Outlook, they
receive a dialogue box requesting username and password. Enter that
information & they connect to Exchange (2000). User changed network password
on desktop & is connecting from a laptop. Could access everything fine prior
to the password change. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The problem is on the laptop. The laptop has 'cached' credentials for that
particular user. You will need to connect the laptop up to the network, boot
it up, and have the user log on with his/her NEW password. Once this is done
they should no longer have the access issue.

Yes, as AJ stated this sounds like a cached credentials issue.

Which begs the question...are you experiencing networking difficulties? Or,
more likely, do you have DNS issues that are preventing this laptop from
finding a DC?

nltest /dsgetdc:domain-name.com

Is a good test as to whether or not you can find a suitable DC. NLTEST is a
support tool.
