Here is the problem. I am setting up an account for my kids in my home
edition of XP. I do not want them to access the C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs file, but access the Programs file in
their own area. How do I do this, if it is even possible?

Thanks

Move those icons to the C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\*your name*\Start Menu
folder (so that only you see them.)

All Users is for all users.

This won't really keep them from running the apps but it will hide the
shortcuts from their Start Menu...

Colin.

Thanks for the information...If you don't mind can I pick you brain one more
time.
I did what you told me, and upon further investigation, I notice that I am
using the "all user" Start Menu.

How do I change it so that I am using the C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\*your
name*\Start Menu?

Thanks once again.

No need to go into the registry to disable that. Go to Security Center which
is in the control panel. Once open, on your left hand side something called
Resources and the last option is where you can disable any or all 3 "alerts
me". Then click ok and your on your way.
