users loosing printers's connection

Hi all,

Hope you can give me a hand quickly.

We just install a WIN server 2003 like PDC and we have 25
users licences.

Users lost networks printers connection and I try add the
same printer and it does not work.

I Have to give the users domain admin right and it works.
Do you have some idea.

Not sure why you need to make your users Domain Admins so that they can add
printers. I would really try to avoid this. Try this as a quick work
around so that you can look into this problem. Make each user a member of
the local computers 'Power User' group. So, if Mary Smith has a domain user
account 'msmith' make her domain user account a member of the local
computers 'Power User' group.

Have you tried this?

Making users a member of the Domain Admins group is a serious problem. They
can now do a whole lot of things that you probably do not want them to be
able to do. Furthermore, since the Domain Admins is, by default, a member
of every local computer's 'Administrators' group ( well, in WINNT, WIN2K and
WINXP ) this could explain why doing this works. Try the Power Users group
and see what happens.

Now we need to figure out why the printers are disappearing. You did not
mention how the printer is made available on the network. Is it, for
example, an HP4100 with a JetDirect card attached to a Print Server ( on
this case your WIN2003 Server ) via a Static IP Address or is it attached to
some other computer via USB or Parallel Cable?
