Users long logon process on Active Directory...why? help

Three months ago I finally upgraded my company's servers
from NT 4.0 server PDC to Windows 2000 Active Directory
Services. Everything went fine BUT my only problem is it
takes much longer time for users to logon by going through
1. loading your personal settings....for about 3min
and
2. Applying your personal settings....... for 2 to 3min.

NT 4.0 server did not take that long when users logon
server.

This has become new issue my users seems to complain most
often...why? Help needed. Is there any configurations
needed to be made in group policy wise or some where on
the server?

How many nics in the server? Does DNS on the servernic(s) point to your
server-IP *only*?
What OS on the clients? Does the ipconfig/all show that everything is
pointing to your server-IP?
 
Hi Chic,
This is a common problem after upgrading to Windows 2000 Directory
Services. Please remember that Active Directory is completely dependent on
DNS. You must have the DNS server on the server, the DC must be using
itself for DNS and you must have the Forward lookup created for the Domain
name. Making sure that Dynamic Updates are enabled. Once this is setup
correctly, you then MUST make sure that the W2K and above clients are ONLY
using the internal DNS server, this DNS server will allow internet name
lookups as well.
