Hi,
I have a network of 75 W2K Pro desktops and when people
log off of their PC it takes a minute to two minutes. The
screen comes up saying "saving your settings" and stays
there for some time. This doesn't happen on every desktop.

Is there a way to speed this up, so it doesn't take so
long to log off?

I understand Windows is saving any changes, but I can log
in for one minute and make no changes then log off and
take several minutes to finish the "saving your settings".

Thanks,
John

Do you have the desktops redirected to a server? If so it
has to go through and push all that information back to
the server when they log out... 1280x1024 32-bit jpgs for
backgrounds etc..

goto

Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs > Change/Remove Programs

and see if Q329170 is listed as an update if it is remove it.

plus

start > run > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration> Administrative
Template
System > Logon > Maximum retries to unload and update user profile ...
set
enabled and to say 5 ... default if not configured is 60!!

There appears to be a hotfix available from MS (thanks Neo)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814770

but you will have to telephone MS to order it.
