We recently migrated from WNT Server to W2K, since we
have introduced the active directory, set up trust
relationships with the previous domain etc, we want to
now migrate our clients.

When clients are set to the new domain when the machine
is restarted and the client goes to resovle, it takes
foooreever...

does anyone have any suggestions ? I am pulling my hair
out and trying to assist the engineer.

Thank you

This is most likely a DNS issue. Ensure that all your clients are pointing
to your internal DNS servers and the internal DNS servers are pointing to
themselves for DNS resolution. Nothing should be pointing directly towards
an ISP DNS server. Instead, make your internal DNS servers forward to the
ISP address.

At what point does the logon process appear to be slow? What do you see on
the screen at the time? Slow logons can occur if the client is not
configured to point to a DNS server that holds the zone records for your
Active Directory domain. You should verify that the client is pointing to
the correct DNS server.
