We are currently running an Access 2003 database, that have access
restrictions based on username and password.
In Access 2003 the user and grup informations is stored in a file named
secured.mdw.
When opening the database from Access 2007, where can I set the parameter to
make Access 2007 check the Secured.mdw file for user autorization?

The new accdb format in 2007 does not support using user level security. If
you keep the mdb format, you can. Start your mdb using a desktop shortcut
with a target of:
"path to 2007 msaccess.exe" "path to mdb" /wrkgrp "path to secured.mdw"

Hi, I just posted a similar question...

Can you please confirm... are you saying that the new format cannot have
multiple user accounts and that these user accounts cannot be given different
levels of priveleges on an object by object basis?

Thanks,

- Nick

Hi Joan,

Can you please provide your opinion on the thread titled User Permissions in
Access 2007 DB? I describe what we did in creating a new 2007 DB and
importing objects from a 2003 DB that had employed ULS. Thanks much!

I'm not sure what I can add. If you create a mdb in 2007 (not accdb), then
you can keep your security. In fact you should be able to run your existing
mdb as is in 2007 without converting either the mdb or the mdw.

Ms. Wild,

I had been using Access 2003 for an MDB that I had password protected. My
computer was suddenly upgraded to Access 2007. I couldn't open the database
to add records.

Your path-shortcut solution solved the problem for me.

Thank you very much.
