Hi,

I am planning to install windows server 2003 instead of existing windows
2000 server sp4 which is a domain controller with 150+ domain users. Now, I
want to transfer user and computer account from active directory to new
server running windows server 2003. I tried ADMT v2 but it needs source
domain and destination domain. There is only one domain in our environment,
say xyz.com. How could I transfer active directory while upgrading windows
2000 server to windows server 2003 in this domain.

hoping to get help soon.

I think you want to rethink your approach. Why don't you just introduce the
new windows 2003 server into your existing 2000 AD environment. You
wouldn't have to completely rebuild your LAN or copy across your users and
computers as well as all AD objects and any member servers, etc... This can
get messy and as you are experiencing takes some experience and
understanding.

All you need do is extend the schema of your current AD (ADPREP Domain and
Forest) then promote the new DC into your forest. Then you can demote the
old dc if you so choose.
