Hi everybody,

I am new to this group and I need help.

When I turn on my computer, a window poppes up which says: "Window XP", to
begin, click your user name". I click on my user name and it workes fine, I
can go to where I want to go.

My problem: I do not want this window to appear when I start the computer. I
am the only user and I do not want the computer password protected.

My question: What do I have to do so that my calendar is displayed when I
start the computer (as it has been on my old computer which also had Windows
XP). How can I uninstall the Username setup alltogether? Is there another way?

If anybody knows, please let me know

For the logon issue, here are two options.

1. Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft. TweakUI is
available here.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs ->
Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI.
Click the + sign next to Logon in the left hand column.
Click on Autologon.
In the right hand pane, put a check mark in the box next to
"Logon automatically at system startup".
Enter the name of your user account in the User Name box.
Hit the Set Password button and enter your password twice.
Note: You should skip this step if your account has a blank
password.
Click OK to close TweakUI.
Restart your computer to see if you get the desired results.

2. Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users for this computer" box, click on the account you
want to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

As for your calendar, put a shortcut to the program in the
Startup folder on your Start menu.

Good luck

Hi John, I got stuck when I typed "controluserpasswords2" into the Run
dialogue box. After I pressed ok, a window popped up which said "Windows can
not find ....
I made 100 % sure I typed the exact letters.

are you leaving a space between control and userpasswords2? It should look
like the 'control userpasswords2'
If that doesn't work then an alternatives is TweakUI as suggested by
Nepatsfan in his reply.
