Dear all,
I have a problem with Win2k server and GP for Win2k
clients. The GPOs are not being applied on the PC. I
have set logging into userenv.log and this shows that for
the user the ntuser.dat is reported as being not
reachable "USERENV (a8.88) 13:22:02:245
IsCentralProfileReachable: Profile path <\\dmdc01
\profiles\myuseraccount\ntuser.dat> is not
reachable(2), error = 32

However, if I grant local admin rights to the user then
everything works OK.

Can anyone please help?

This is not actually a group policy issue. It is more of a profiles issue.
Anyway the error message seems to indicate that it is being used by another
process (Description of the error code 32 is The process cannot access the
file because it is being used by another process)

Some other process has the ntuser.dat opened preventing anybody else from
accessing it.
It can be something like a virus scanner, you might have mounted it directly
using some registry tools causing it to open the file exclusively or may be
you have this server profile location loaded as a local profile.

Anyway once you the get the process holding the ntuser.dat to release the
file, this should work fine.

HTH,
-Shaji.

Hi Shaji,
This post has now been resolved. It was a profiles
issue : we used the System propetrties -> User Profiles ->
copy to. This repermissioned the profile in qustion and
everything worked fine.

Many thanks

Steve Q.
