Hi Folks,
Is it possible for me to set up multiple accounts, but to have different
levels of security for surfing the internet. What I am really looking for, is
for me to have full access to the internet, and my kids to have limited
access to the internet, as I do not want them to be downloading anything from
the internet. I am usin XP pro service pack 2.

you need to do this: hit start, go to control panel, go to user account, go
to create a new account, type de name of the new account, hit next, make the
account a limited, hit create account.

Short answer: nothing that is free.

While there is an RSAC filter that can be turned on it assumes that
providers of content follow the rules set out by them and actually turn
thier rating on. Of course you can then block any unrated sites but you
will find that many sites with perfectly valid content doen't use these
filters either.

I have heard that http://www.cybersitter.com/ has been touted as a good
solution but really that would just be the tip of the iceberg.

Fir example, Symantec has a full suite designed for home users that has
parental controlls and firewall and and a number of other features.

If you google the topic of internet filtering for cjildren you will see that
there are lots of alternatives, many with free trials.

and those who don't.

While that does not allow most kinds of software installation it also does
not stop the kids from actually downloading files, nor does it block
specific internet sites or kinds of content.

So unless I am missing something, this really doesn't address the OPs needs.

FYI, I have been beta testing windows vista, and it has a whole suite of
parental controls builtin that are targeted at EXACTLY what you are looking
for.

It also has full auditing of visited sites, files downloaded, programs used,
files accessed, and times of activity.

It even has a video game rating filter that you can turn on to allow or deny
games based on thier esrb rating.
