User updateable pages

I have set up a site where most of the pages are static,
but the user has the need to create new pages on an ad-hoc
basis. I have suggested that they use Word to produce
these pages, and save as an html file. Then they can use
FTP Explorer to upload these pages. But the problem is
that these new pages will require links to them from the
main menu bar. This doesn't seem a very good solution to
me, is there a better way?
PS I sent this out earlier but it doesn't seem to have
posted.

A reply was posted with a suggestion to get the users FP.

However unless the user has FP, they will not be able to modify the menu
navigation. Now if you can use server side Includes, then you would build
the required pages with navigation, and then the user would upload content
via FTP, and it would automatically be included on the specific pages,
however to add new pages, they would have to have FP.

Thanks for that. A couple of things though:
What do you mean by server side Includes?
The trouble with asking them to use FP, which they are
willing to buy, is that it does require a certain amount
of competence with a PC etc, which I'm not sure they have.

A server side include (SSI) allows you to have content included in pages
when they are requested by the browser.

FP offers a similar option called the FP Include Page component, however
this will not work for you in this case since the content is merge into the
page when you save the page in FP.

Now a bigger issue, is that by allowing the users to add content via Word,
they will be free to specific any font (and size), which may not be a common
font on the machines that site visitor may be using when visiting the site,
and the layout for the content may not blend well with rest of site, etc.
