Hi ,

we are trying to create a test domain for windows 2003. We have two domain
controllers , lets say dc2000 and dc2003; and two exchange servers ex2000
and ex2003.
we wish our dc2000 users test ex2003.

what is the proper way to do this? Do we have to create all acounts in
dc2003, or there is a way to transfer dc2000 users to dc2003 so that they
have their own mailboxes in ex2003.

thanks in advance,
Ertan

So basically you want to replicate you domain to another test domain ? You
can use ADMT v2 to copy user objects to another domain. You can download ADMT
from
http://microsoft.com/downloads/deta...b1-5849-4707-9817-8c9773c25c6c&DisplayLang=en
If you just want to copy user objects, then you could use tools like csvde
or ldifde to export objects from one directory and import them to another.
This will not transfer users passwords.

Dear Matjaz,
Thank you for your reply. I have downloaded and installed the migration
tool.

As I tried with test option, it raised an error: Our dc2000 domain is in
native mode, but dc2003 is not. It refuses transfer because dc2003 is not in
native mode. It seems we have to change dc2003 into native mode.

What is the difference between native mode and mixed one? I am also trying
to install exchange 2003 , the setup fails and advises to use forestprep
mode. I guess we have missed something while creating a domain and joining
into the forest(dc2000).

thanks.
