My PC is used by adults and children. I have Windows Vista Ultimate
installed and am not able to determine how to prevent the 'non pc literate
adults and children from having access to Windows System Applications like
Control Panel and Computer for example

Does anyone know how I can remove these items from selected users?

Hi,

Have you looked at the parental controls yet, Bob? Don't give the other
users admin accounts, just regular ones, and then use these controls to
limit access to only specified programs.

Rick,

Yes I have used parental controls and while that does limit access, it does
not remove the application from the users start menu. Consequently when a
'40 something' user selects a application which he/she is prevented from
accessing, they get 'Parental Control has restricted access to this
programme'!!!

Surely Microsoft has a process that permits administrators to remove the
blocked application from the users menu and/or displaying a more relevant
message to specific users?

Bob

Hi Bob,

No, not really. Of course there are the policy editors, but I find it more
effective to change permissions on the program folder and move menu icons
out of the common folders and into only those profiles that should have
access.
