I hope someone can help me with this issue.

I have a Windows 2000 computer on a workgroup and I want
to connect it to a Domain, which is no problem.

However when connected to the domain I've lost all the
pre-definied settings of the user profile, after joining
the domain using the same username. Is there any way of
joining the domain and keeping the user profile settings
that were in place for the user when it was in the
workgroup?

Thanks.

Right click My Computer --> Properties, User Profiles, then choose the local
user profile and
copy it to the domain user profile.

You have to be logged on as Administrator to do this.

.
You can use Migration Active Directory for Users and
Computers tool, before to login to new Domain.
