User Profile Won't Load Correctly

I shut my computer off last night by just holding down the on/off button (not
because there was anything wrong with my computer at the time, but because it
was faster than letting the system shut down properly. I've learned my
lesson, and won't be doing that again). Now, though, when I turn my computer
on, it says my user profile didn't load completely or correctly, and that any
changes made to this temporary profile wouldn't be saved.

The temporary profile has none of my preferred settings, looks exactly as my
computer did the first day I ever turned it on, and none of my
files/documents/pictures/etc are in place. I did a search for my files, and
found them at the end of a really convoluted path (so they're still here),
but I can no longer just click the start button and then music, because the
music isn't there any more, for example. Also, my firefox bookmarks seem to
be gone.

Please help me get the profile to load correctly!

Information - it's a Gateway laptop, and I'm running the student version of
Vista.

Thank you

Given that you shut the system down incorrectly, it's likely that you have
corrupted the profile and it is now unrecoverable. If a reboot or two has
not cleared it up, you will probably have to create a new account and
customize it as you want it to be.

What if the computer is a on domain and this error has occurred? I've logged
in as the local machine admin and deleted the users profile under the user
section after moving their files out but it won't recreate a new profile for
them. I have deleted and readded the user to this machine as well. Still
when I log in as the user it says profile can not be loaded correctly, using
temp etc. I do not want to totally reload this machine. Any help would be
greatly appriciated.
