Hi!
I'm running Windows XP Professional SP 2 (English) and I have been trying to
make a template user profile which can be copied so that I can reuse settings
for new user profiles. I'm currently stuck because the copied user profiles
contain registry entries which point to the original template profile (copy
was made with the "Copy to" function in the Users and Groups tab, logged in
as Administrator), making certain applications unusable and I'm sure this
will lead to other undesirable effects in the long term. My question is this
- what's the best way to do this? Is it possible to make an adjustable
template user profile?
I'm currently looking at the registry and my current solution would be to
search out the offending entries and then to export them to a single .reg
file so that I can just modify it for the profile I want to fix before
merging. It's a slow and painful process, and I can't be sure I haven't
missed anything, not to mention any future changes in the template profile
will mean lots of adjustments later.
All comments and suggestions are welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Kim Lim Fong
