Millette

I had to cahnge a servername this weekend that hosted the
roaming profiles for several users. I changed the pathe
in the AD user profile to reflect the new servername but
when XP clients log on they get a message stating that
they no longer have access to the old profile path and it
wont find the new path.

Hi Millette,

First, let's check whether you can access the new profile path with the UNC
name from the Windows XP client logged on with the proper user.

If not, please check the permission.

If yes, please send me the networking MPS report.

Hi Millette,

First, I want to know whether you have more than one domain controller? If
yes, check whether these domain controllers have the replication issue?

Check the settings on one DC.

1. Run adsiedit.msc
2. Expand the Domain > DC=xxx > CN=Users
3. Right click the CN=<username> where the username has the problem and
select Properties
4. In the "Select a property to view", select the ProfilePath
5. You should get the Attribute Values in the following
6. If it's not correct, manyally modify it and click the Set button

Note: if you don't have the adsiedit.msc, install the Windows 2000 Support
Tools from the Support\Tools folder on the Windows 2000 installation CD.

Then, use the repadmin.exe to force replication between the domain
controllers.

If this does not work, remove the problem computer from the domain and then
re-join it back.

Let's see whether this works.
