Hi,
My laptop is configured with Windows Vista Business version. I have updated
SP1 patch a couple of months back.
This post is with respect to a an event that took place on 27th September
2008.
I restarted the system on 27th September since there was a message flashing
that new updates have been installed and my system requires a reboot. To my
surprise, I found that when the system restarted, all the files under my user
profile have got deleted completely. Event viewer has an entry that user
profile deletion was successful. Upon investigation I found that the only
update that was installed was KB951698. All the files in My Documents and
all other folders under my user profile have been deleted and I couldn't
recover them at all.
Has anyone else encountered this strange problem? Can anyone advise what is
the root cause for this, how to avoid this and suggest ways of recovering my
lost data?
Thanks and regards,
Madhu.
