Hi

We have the following problem: When starting up, we try entering the user password, but the problem is, that the password was entered in "german" language (general computer language: german) and for some reason our computer changed the general language into "arabic" (al least at the user password entry)
So we're denied access, although the password is correct

Does anybody know, how to change the language in german again, in order for us to get into the computer again

Thanks in advanc
S.

Hi Silly,

For the characters exclusively German, try typing them using the left
Alt key, with NumLock on, the codes are:

Ä Alt 0196
Ö Alt 0214
Ü Alt 0220
ä Alt 0228
ö Alt 0246
ü Alt 0252
sz Alt 0223

If you should have trouble with the Latin characters, look them up in
an ASCI table.

Alternatively, try changing keyboards.

When you overcome the password hurdle:
Review the keyboard configuration, substitute LANGUAGE for the
language you want to set:

1. Control Panel - Regional and Language Settings - Regional Options -
Standards and Format - LANGUAGE

2. Control Panel _ Regional and language Settings - Languages -
Details - Default input device - LANGUAGE.

3. Control Panel - Regional and language settings - Advanced Options -
Language for programs not Unicode - LANGUAGE

4. Control Panel - Regional and language Settings - Languagees -
Details - Configuration - Installed services - Add - Language and
distribution of the keyboard.

3. Internet Explorer - Tools - Internet Options - General- Languages -
Add - LANGUAGE (this setting is important for the use of Windows
Update, because it will be shown in the language configured here)

Good luck, hope this helps.
