While trying to set up a scheduled task on my Windows
2000, I was prompted to create an Administrator profile. I
followed the instructions but now I cannot go back to the
original User that was set up on my PC. Further more,
that profile I set up is not even recognized as an
Administrator. How do I get back to my origial user? I
don't even know what was set up originally since I was
never prompted to log on as a specific user nor to type in
a password.

Do you know if the original ID was local or part of the AD?
Type "net user" at the command prompt to get a list of user IDs
recognised by Windows 2000. One of those should be the
original user.

Hi Hickman, I have tried what you suggested. I got 3
results: Administrator; Elise; Guest. I think there were
more profiles set up before and I might have deleted 1 of
them. I suspect it was my original profile. Is there a
way to recover it? As it is, my PC doesn't allow me to do
much because it says I am a "limited user". I'm not
allowed to change much on here. What's my best bet?

You need to logon as Administrator and setup a user the
way you want it. If you do not know the Administrator's
password, contact whoever (vendor, tech) installed the OS.
If you can't get hold of them, try blank or "password"

There may be unsupported ways to get in. You can do a
search on the Internet to try to find them.

As a last resort, you can do a reinstall of the OS, which
will reset the administrators password.
