How easy (or otherwise) is it to change my own Windows login name on my
on PC where I have full administrator rights?

Is it simply a question of changing it under "Users and Passwords", or
are there other aspects/complications?

Hello Herbert,

Like you say, that's the way to do it.

But i suggest do not play around with the administrator before you have an
additional admin account, if something goes wrong.

If you will not work with the administrator, then create an admin for install
etc. and disable the real administrator.

Best regards

Hi Meinolf,

thanks for your reply, and sorry about the delay in acknowledging it.

In addition to my own account this PC also has the standard/default
Administrator account, so hopefully I can't break too much of anything
goes wrong :-)

However, before I go ahead, I wonder what will happen with all the
numerous registry entries containing my current full user name under
C:\Documents and Settings\Herbert Eppel\...

Will they all be changed automatically, along with the directory itself,
i.e. assuming I want to change my user name to Herb, will everything
appear under
C:\Documents and Settings\Herb\... ?

And will all my programs still work and refer to the new location?
