In Windows Explorer if I go:-
C:\Documents and Settings\ one of the names that I am offered is test user
I wish to change this to Brian
I am using XP SP2
How do I make this change?
I tried to research it myself but got confused with the different "Names"
discussed.
Many thanks for your help.

Changing the name is only a cosmetic effect, the account test user will
still be there.

Go Start-Settings-Control Panel , double click on user accounts and
create a new account with the name you wish to use.

You can't just change the name of an account. If you wish to copy the
account settings of Test User to a new account named "Brian", follow
these steps:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811151

You will need to log into the new Brian account once before you can copy
anything to it.

After you've finished and are sure the Brian account has everything you
want, you can delete the Test User account. Note: You must import your
e-mail messages and addresses to the new user profile before you delete
the old profile.
