I hope this is the right place to post this question. I
live alone and have no need for security here at home. I
want to be able to fire up my computer, walk away for a
minute, and come back to find my desktop ready and
waiting for me. I don't need to log in, or select a user -
I'm the only one here!!

Is there some way of disabling that part of the startup
process? Thanks.

Mark,

You have a comcast e-mail address. Are you on a cable
modem with an 'always on' connection? If so, then your
statement that you 'have no need for security' is wrong.
You probably keep your doors and windows locked to keep
potential prowlers out, and you might even have a safe in
the basement. So why not use similar precautions with
your computer system?

Having said that, you can probably change your system
timeout time by tinkering with your screen save and power
options.

disable fast user switching and turn off secure logon.
Also a firewall is HIGHLY recommended...
