user manual for windowsXPSP2

Is there anywhere I can find a step by step instruction manual to make sure that my computer has all the correct settings?
 
The only manual as such is the "help" button on the start menu, it runs through almost everything :)

If you computer is working fine, I wouldn't worry about any incorrect settings :D

Thanks. I guess I'm looking too deep into things when I should just leave alone, but so much I need to know!

Things are becoming clearer now, thank you. Just 1 more question, if software isn't digitally signed and the install wizard doesn't advise it, what do you do? just got a digital camera but can't access photos because when i try to install it, i get the message 'not digitally signed? I don't know if this helps, its Umax Astrapix 430.
