I have just reformatted and setup WinXP Pro SP2 (version 5.1.2600 and loaded
up most of my usual software; and set up for 3 family users.

The problem is when you click on the logoff button absolutely nothing
happens (no error msge or anthing) and have to use CTRL ALT DEL to logoff.
'Switch User' works ok except ofcourse the exit user is then shown as still
logged on.

There doesnt seem to be a lot of info on this situation. I did try using UPH
Clean but no improvement.

Any suggestion how to overcome this would be much appreciated - is system
repair
an option maybe ?

Thanks v.much

A Repair might do it, but I would try the "Expand File" button in
MSConfig.exe first, for the file %windir%/system32/winlogon.exe

Thank you Mark for that.

I am a bit confused about using the "Expand File" function tho. I guess I
put the file %windir%/system32/winlogon.exe in as File to Restore then what
do I do for 'Restore from:' and 'Save file in:' ?

Can you step me thru a bit further please.

Thanks so much.

If a search failed to identify the *.cab with the 'winlogon.ex_' file dated
as you need, you should probably do a Repair setup. (It would have, of
course, gone where you found the original, in system32)

I am not sure if you can cope with me anymore but your reply is even more
confusing for me - how do I search for "the *.cab with the 'winlogon.ex_'
file dated as I need" ?

Thanks
