User log in issues

Hi,
I have a multi user db on a server. I have several front ends for different
functions. I have gone into the backend and created user accounts for about
50 people. Three individuals that I have created accounts for, logged in (at
seperate times) with the wrong user name.

I believe the system went to a default admin log in, because the three of
them get the same message. "Could not log on 'Admin' is in use."
I have went into the user and group accounts menu and reset the Admin
password, yet it still says that message.

Each user has a copy on thier own hard drive. For example: Joe, who works in
supply, has the supply db front end on his c: drive, as well as mike on his.
Both work in supply. Joe can log into his account under his name. Mike can
not. Originally, on his first log in, Mike logged in using the wrong user id.
One that did not exist in the user group. Now every time Mike tries to log
in, he gets the same
default messege, "Could not log on 'Admin' is in use."

This holds true for the other two users, who work with different front ends,
who also looged in with the wrong user id.

Any suggegestions for a quick fix? The hard part is, they don't even get a
chance to log in at all anymore. It just goes to the error messege. What to
do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jerrod.

Mike must have used a valid account name, albeit the wrong one, to get in at
all. To secure your app properly you should deny access to all objects to
the "Admin" user account and you should create your own custom administrator
account. The securing process is documented in the MS FAQ - there's a link
on my web site along with my own step-by-step example. You can also search
this group for Jeff Conrad and Joan Wild, both of whom have great web sites
with lots of useful security information.
