I have a db that is set up and has been in use for several months. I have
previously used a Microsoft Access db that opened like a computer program;
with locked forms, tabs, buttons that generated reports onto word, etc.

What do I need to do to move my database into this direction? Currently I am
opening tables and forms and scrolling around to find fields. Can you please
suggest any books on this subject (I have found none at B&N, only stuff on
excel) or any links that deal with this subject. I assume to achieve the
desired db it will involve macros, visual basic and programming. Hopefully
this is stuff that isn't too far over my head and that I can learn over time.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are many good books (and B&N certainly carries some of them). Learning
styles differ, so you may want to find a big B&N, Borders or other good
bookstore that carries a shelf or two of Access books, and spend a while
looking through them to see what fits your needs. Anything by my friend John
Viescas would be a good place to start.
