Hello all,

My setting are French languages under French desktop XPE SP1:

Under User Interface Core, I checked the following ones :

Show Desktop icons:
Show Shut Down on Start Menu:
Show context menu on Shell folders:
Show control pannel on strat menu
Show network place :
Show Run on start menu
Show Log Off on start menu:
Number of programs on Start menu: 2

After boooting the image, the Start menu shows the followings:

All programs/Startup/(Empty)
My recent documents
My computer
Control Panel --> The Administrative Tools gives nothing
Printers and Faxes
Log off --> does not work
Shut Down
Network places --> Miss
Run on start menu --> Miss

But no Network places and No Run on start menu. More, the Log Off does
not work.
In Control panel, The Administrative Tools gives nothing (Although the
Adminstration support tools is there).

Have I to switch to english Language as it is suggested in one thread ?

Thk.

Hello flo,

Is the key Start_ShowRun avaiable in
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
structure ? --> Yes,it is under
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartMenu\StartPanel\ShowRun
..

My dev system is french XP Pro No SP. Should I upgrade it to XP SP1 ?
To make XPE images, I use XPE SP1.

Before I switched XPE (Regional Settings) into french, Images were
built in English and in Control panel/Administrative Tools, I could get
only one icon (Component Services) which has disappeared since I turned
into French.

In the following link you suggest me, I don't understand how to create
a script ( "You should create your own User Interface Core Component
with the according script and the following syntax")
In Advanced properties of User Interface Core, I can't switch from TRUE
to "TRUE".

Thks

Chris

Hello Chris,
"My dev system is french XP " thats your problem. If you build your own
components it is possible to add a script with reg keys and stuff like
this.
In the original ms script they work with <"TRUE"> instead of <TRUE>.
This means if your dev machine is english the comparison of "TRUE" and
TRUE is true. But if your machine is german (or anything else) the
comparison failed because "TRUE" and Wahr (true in german) will never
be the same.
Because i'm not on work now i will send you an example file on
thursday.

Regards,
flo

Hello flo,

It would be very kind if you could send me a script example file
because I can't install an English XP on my dev system.

What tools do I need to install to edit the script ?

Thks

Regards

Chris.

Hello Chris,
you just need the XPe Tools and a normal text editor (notepad..).

flo
