when my wife recently installed some software for work for some reason I lost
all my icons on my destop. when looking in the Documents and Settings
folder/directory I see now that I have along with the folders we use to have
"Steve, Martha, All Users and Administrator" there is a "Temp" folder. when
clicking on that folder and then destop folder I see what I now have on my
destop when I boot the machine up and click on my name..........

any ideas on how I can get it back to the way it was?

thanks

Are you saying that the temp folder now contains all the missing desktop
icon shortcuts that you no longer have in your account?

Did you try moving them back to your desktop?
They might belong in the "all users" desktop though.

all my icons are now in the c:\documents and settings\steve\desktop

and I just noticed that my favorites are now in this folder

c:\documents and settings\steve\favorites

is it possible to make a change in my registry? I would think there
would be somekind of entry in it that is using the folder in the Temp
directory instead of what are in my directory. does that make sense?

thanks again

hi JS, what I'm saying is that the icons I use to have along with my
favorites are in these folders........

c:\documents and settings\steve\desktop
c:\documents and settings\steve\favorites

but when i boot this machine and click on my user account, for some reason
everything i see on my desktop and my favorites is under these folders

c:\documents and settings\temp

does that makes it any clearer?

thanks again
