One of our users was married recently. On the server, I
changed her name under active directory properties, and
also renamed the user folder. At the workstation, where
the email account is setup, I wanted to keep Outlook as
is, so in the account properties I changed her name as
well as her username. The question I have is, on the XP
workstation, I cannot rename the user folder which all
document and settings info. Is there a way to do this and
keep the same settings and icons on desktop for the new
username? Thank you very much.

You cannot change the name of a users folders and files. This would require
every reference to those folders and files on the system be changed
globally. If this is really a problem, the proper way to do this is to use
an administrators account to create another account with the preferred name
and then copy the original users profile to this new account.

MVP Kelly has a good step by step description for copyimg the contents of a
user profile. Go to the following website and scroll down to the "Copy a
user profile" section.
