We have a Terminal Server where most users log in via a Wyse ThinTerm. They
have not complained of any issues with profile settings.

When I log in as the particular user, His Folder in Docs and Settings gets
created, then when he logs out, the folder disappears.

The one thing I noticed that is different is that all of the Wyse Only
Clients have a roaming Profile and the user that has the issue has a local
profile.

Though My Profile is also a local profile and I don't have the Issue.

Any Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Can you give this user a roaming profile? That might fix
the problem. I'm willing to bet that you automatically
delete locally cached profiles...correct?

I've tried the Roaming profile and it does not seem to store the ntuser.dat
and other settings there. Just the MyDocs Start Menu and Apps Setting.

Did some further testing. and If I create a New user in AD, it works as its
supposed to. Setttings are saved.

If I copy the User and create a new user from the one I'm having issues
with, it has the same issues, It does not keep the user's profile.

So it seems to be related to some setting of the user. I've gone through
all the Tabs in ADUG and they are all the same as other users..

Thanks for your help!

The easiest thing to do here is to just give this person a
new profile. You could troubleshoot and see what setting
in his registry is causing this problem, but in most
cases, this isn't going to be worth it.

How do I give them a new Profile? You mean a new User Account?

I've thought of that, though I have to deal with his Exchange account and
move the mail from one account to the other...

Thanks,

You can give him a new profile by deleting his current
profile, which is most likely stored in the documents and
settings folder on your C drive. This may not exist,
since you said that it was being deleted at logoff, and in
this case, you don't need to delete anything.

You said that all other users have a roaming profile, so
where are their profiles stored? I would make sure this
person's account it also looking to a roaming profile
location and that this person's personal files are stored
there as well. Lastly, make sure that his profile (at the
roaming profile location) has a new ntuser.dat file. I
imagine that his settings (causing the profile to be
deleted at logoff) at stored in the ntuser.dat file, so
replacing this file should fix things up.
