Anyone know how to change the user name in the directory (C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop) without having to do a reinstall on XP? I want to change the user name so that all folder and files will reference to the new user name.

Thanks.

The only way is to create a new user with the correct name, transfer over any of your files, and delete the old user thru user accounts in control panel.

How about losing the HTML? Post in text only.

Create the Username you want. Then copy the existing profile to the
new name - Login to the new account & Verify operation. Finally,
remove the old account and it's files.

How do you create a new username and copy that into the existing profile
name?

Control Panel, Users, Create a New user - (Enter Name), then set a
password for the account. Log into that account one time. Then log
into the Administrator account. Right Click My Computer, then click
Properties, Advanced, User Profile, Settings. From the profile listings
left click the original profile name to highlight. Then click Copy to ,
then Browse to the newly created account/profile at:
C:\Documents and Settings\'NewProfileName' (Make sure it's correct)
then click "Permitted to Use" and add the new profile/username.
Now log into that new account and it will be a "Mirror" image of the
original that you wanted to change the name.
