I am configuring an EMS reporting workstation (stand alone
computer)for our medics. My intent was to allow the users
to use only one particular reporting application. All
users are in the Restricted users group. In Local
Computer Policy\User Configuration\Administrative
Templates\System I enabled "Run only allowed Windows
Applications" and added the programs executable name. It
works as I had hoped for in the case of the users;
however, I cannot access the control panel, my mmc snap-
in, or anything else, even though I have Administrator
privileges. I don't know how I can undo this policy since
I can no longer access anything on the computer except the
EMS reporting software. Any suggestions will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks, Linda

If you can put the computer on a network, log onto another computer with
the same username an password as the administrator of the locked out computer
[you may need to create account first]. Now run gpedit.msc on the network
computer, and you will given the option to manage local or another computer.
Enter the name of the locked out computer and you should now be able to manage
the Group Policy of it remotely. Another thing to try is to go to the
\winnt\system32\group policy\users folder on the locked out machine, and give
yourself deny permissions to that folder. Log off and back on and try to access
control panel again. --- Steve
