Hi all...
here is the scope...
The Previous IT head guy had Ad setup the following way:
each site has on DC except at the main office which has 2 DC.
at the main office we have 1 DC which is the root DC and has all FSMO roles,
a Gc and exchange 2003
the second DC is just a file sharing server.
at each other site the Dc there is the GC, DHCP, AD-DNS..
the dhcp scopes is as follows:
router option set to the cisco router's ip
dns servers set to the local Dc at that site
domain name set to mycompanydomain.com
time server set to the loacl DC and then main office DC.....
my question is that what happens when that DC goes down will the clients
still be able to browse the web...?
at each site all traffice is routed to the main office router and then out
to the world
i think that the scope option for "DNS servers" should also have a second
entry of the main office dns server's ip address.
so provided that all other aspects such as router, wiring, switches and t1
connection are ok what steps should i take...?
Have a good one you all...
PS i know some of the settings like having so many task on one Dc like the
root DC with all FSMO, exchange, GC and DNS... that will all change now that
i am in charge... but i am trying to get most of the other stuff right untill
my budget is approved....
