Hello all. We have been working with a Novell server for quite some
years. After a lot of hesitation, pushing and shoving, we are moving
to a Windows 2000 server. My question is: On a Novell server, the
client has the ability to send a message over the network to another
user, which resulted in a popup message box on the user's computer to
which they could reply.

Does Windows 2000 Professional running on a Windows 2000 Server have
any feature like novell, to allow users to communicate similar to
Instant Messaging?

Thanks for all input.

3 choices provided within Win 2K

1) NET SEND at the command prompt. e,g, c:\>net send username message
2) MS Chat. Must be running on sender and receivers PC.
3) MS Messenger w/ Exchange 2K or using public messaging servers.
