User and Group Accounts problem

I am trying to add security to my database. I added myself and gave myself
admin priviledges. When I restart the DB I get the logon with the Admin
userid. When I put myself in it says I am not a member of Admins user group.
When I check, there I am. I have been playing around with settings trying
to figure this out and now I have done something to cause all of the buttons
to gray out in User and Group Accounts dialog box. I had saved the database
a couple of times to different locations PRIOR to doing any of this security
stuff just in case. I got frustrated and deleted the database and opened one
of the ones I saved and it too has the buttons all grayed out. Whatever I
did seems to be application wide and permanent. Anyone have any suggesions
on how to get my buttons back so I can remove users and add them back.
Please help.......
Thanks

Access security is not something you can learn or succesfully implement by
"playing with it". It has a steep learning curve and the vast majority of first
attempts are incorrect.

Get the FAQ and study it thouroughly. Then follow each and every step in
sequence on a copy of your database.

Rick means the "Access Security FAQ", often referenced in this group. A
google search should find it for you.

Thanks to all who responded. I did find my answer in the FAQ of MS. I
pressed enter on my own userid with a blank password and then reissued my
password and then I came back in with Admin priviledges. Everything opened
up at that point and I was able to get myself back on track. Then I got to
"play around" some more so I can learn this thing right.
