HELP! on the page listing users, under my name, it shows that there are 21 unread messages on Hotmail...I don't have a hotmail account. I deleted all messages from Hotmail before I closed the account, and checked to make sure that there were no more. How do I get rid of this, and change the e-mail message to my outlook express account! PLEASE HELP!

Interesting question Amy. For a quick fix download an application called
"Tweak UI." Tweak UI (User Interface) is a Microsoft manufactured
application which gives you additional options in terms of customization.
You will find an option on whether or not to display unread messages at the
Welcome Screen. This will directly adjust settings without extra and/or
third-party software. Just search for "Tweak UI" through an MSN search. It
resides somewhere near "windows.com/xp." Download the true utility from a
Microsoft site.

Other than Tweak UI you could consult Help & Support through the start menu
or consider disabling the Welcome Screen through Control Panel, User
Accounts.

OK, I had the same problem.....this worked for me, and should for you

Start->Run->Regedi

navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your E-Mail Address].

In the right pane: right click "Message Count" and modify. Change the value data to 0
