I use my laptop both at home and when giving presentations - and these
require differing parameters. I am using Win XP Pro SP2

If a set up a new user account for presentations can I set it up differently
from my main (home) account such as: No hardwired LAN; Presenter Mouse
parameters; ScreenSaver Off; Power Settings; Automatic mail check off: to
name just a few.

Obviously I need to set up the shares appropriately

TIA

Thanks, will do.
But surely this will only cover the hardware issues. Many of the things
that I want to alter are software issues - can these be different bewteen
hardware profiles? I am talking about programs to run on start-up as well
as disabling screen saver/power-saving.

Some things are machine wide and it doesn't matter who is logged on. Screen
resolution, for example. Other things you can change per user.

Start up programs if in here
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
instead of here
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

All Users applies to........ well, All Users.

Or here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
instead of here
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Anything in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is machine wide. It doesn't matter who logs
on.

Anything in HKEY_CURRENT_USER relates to the current user that is logged on.

Screen saver settings are in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop so they
are per user.

Power settings are in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg so they are
per user.
