I've set up two accounts on my Windows XP laptop. Is
there any way to make it select one by default rather
than having to select one when I switch the PC on ?

Thanks.

If you want to go straight into XP without having to log in, go to Start > Run
and enter control userpasswords2 . Uncheck "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer." Apply. A box will pop up for you to enter
the name and password for the account you want to open automatically when XP
starts. If there's no password, leave those spaces blank. Apply. OK.

XP will automatically open to the chosen account each time it's started.

Once TweakUI is installed you will find it in Start - All Programs -
Powertoys for Windows XP. Its the Logon - Autologon that is relevant to
this thread

Tweakui Autologon works when booting up, but when my laptop comes
around from Hibernate or Standby I still have to logon even though I
am the only user. Anyone know how to get around this?

Right click on an open area of your desktop. Open Properties > Screen Saver tab
Power button > Advanced tab. Uncheck "Prompt for password when computer
resumes from standby." Apply. OK.

Thanks for the amazingly fast response, but I don't have "Prompt for
password" checked.
