User Accounts - Specified Module Missing

I get a warning dialog when I try to select any of the options within User
Accounts.

The dialog is:
The specified module could not be found.

As far as I can tell I'm virus/malware/spyware free. Full software and
hardware firewalls and updated virus protection.

Anyone have an idea on how I can get this to work

Thank you for the suggestion. I did complete a scan, and although it appeared
to refresh/replace some files (by asking for my XP CD) it did not solve my
missing module issue.

Hi dpf,

When exactly does this error occur? While changing user account picture?

The scenario:
1. Open, Start Menu
2. Select, Control Panel
3. Select, User Accounts
4. Select, Change the way users log on or off
Warning dialog appears.
5. Close warning dialog.
6. Check either, Use the Welcome screen or Use Fast User Switching.
7. Select, Apply Options button.
8. Select, Change the way users log on or off (to check settings where
applied)
Warning dialog appears. Settings not applied.

I hope this is verbose enough. I thank you for your time.

This has to do with a custom GINA DLL (missing module) set in the registry.
Use this fix:

Hi,

Suggestions:

If you are using any HTA blockers, it will cause this behavior. If per
chance this is the
case and you are using HTAStop (as an example) enable HTA applications.

Either way: Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i mshtml

He's using the CDO interface, didn't think you could post attachments from
that.
Sorry for butting in Ramesh.

Hello, Kelly.

Thank you for your interest. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is an HTA
blocker?

dpr-
not sure if you are still trying to resolve this issue, but if you are
interested in an alternate solution for logon optins, see the string below.
(i have the same problem).

here is the website to which i refer:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

best,
rae79

Thank you for the reply Ramesh. Unfotunately, the fix below did not resolve
the issue, i even checked the registery (after running the fix) to manually
delete the string, but it wasnt there and the error message continues to come
up.

The good news is that i found an alternative solution at your website where
i downloaded the Tweak program and set the autologon options. The problem is
still there, but this work around is solution enough for me until the next
reformat!

Thank you very much for your help and your very informative website.

I am having the same problem.

Rae79, the website you mention is for just the opposite problem that I am
having, and I believe, dpr is having too. I want to have to do a Ctr,Alt,
Dlt to log on, for greater security.

And Kelly, I am using Spyware software and want to continue. So what is the
solution? I ran other Spyware, and believe I had the problem before, but now
am running the Microsoft Spyware Beta program.

In case I change something, or deleted something, can I add something back?

Thanks for the help in advance.
