Hi All,

I have four POP accounts for which I'd like to assign different sigfiles for
each one. Since WM had abandoned the "identities" format in favor on "user
accounts," I've yet to figure out a way to assign a different sigfile for
each of my accounts. Any ideas. TIA.

Tools, Options, Signature, create the 4 signatures and
save each under an appropriate name. Then select one,
Advanced, tick the account(s) you want that sig used with.
Repeat the signature assignment for the other 3 accounts.

I should add, this works well with emails you reply to or forward.
But when you start composing a new email, WinMail has no way
of knowing which account you want, so it always picks the
default account and adds the sig for the default account.
You can change the 'From' account after you start composing,
but it doesn't change the signature.

Thanks, Gary.

Actually, I am considering it.

<rant> I used to think OE was clunky until I began using Windows Mail. It's
as if WM was an afterthought to the OS. Microsoft has basically stripped out
functionality in the name of security, though I seriously doubt WM is any
more secure than OE. </rant>

My guess is that two common complaints of OE were the opening and closing of
windows when switching identities and the potential for .dbx file
corruption. That may be why everything is now captured "under one roof" and
the file structure is different. I don't have a problem with that, but I've
had to waste time trying to find workarounds for segregating my accounts,
such as: creating subfolders, using message filtering (rules) to
automatically drop mail in the right folder, and now the sigfile thing. And
it still doesn't work as well as OE. I guess that's why you're offering a
substitute. :-)

Anyway, I realize that unexpected change can be daunting and take awhile to
get used to, so I'm going to be patient.
