Hi I have a windows 2000 Pro. Computer and every time i logon it sends me to
another account. (not my own settings and documents) It shows me a messae
that say an error log could not be created because... and it shows a file
name labled tcpsvcs.exe . Can you tell me what this is and how i can fix it?

Thanks alex

Sounds like the profile may be corrupt. If the profile is corrupt, you can
rename the profile(while logged on as local admin), then when the user logs
on again a new profile will be created from the image in \default user. You
can then copy over the items you need from the renamed profile. Copy the
folder contents not the folders themselves. When your sure you have all you
need, you can delete the renamed profile(s). Use the import function of your
e-mail software. Don't overwrite ntuser.dat

Check Event Viewer for details on the other issue.

First check the EVENTVWR.MSC log for a complete message on the tcpsvcs.exe
problem.

How do you know you are placed in another user's profile. Where are you
placed under in C:\Documents and Settings?

To check you true profile path:

1. Open Regedit
2. Open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
3. Open each S-1-5-21-* key and examine ProfileImagePath and see what one
the 'other' account is.

If the true account is still under C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME], you
can change the ProfileImagePath to reflect the 'true' account path.
