User account passwords not synchronising

Users can log on and access shares on the network. Our
system is set so that all users change their passwords of
a number of days. Users are able to change their
password, however, they are then unable to access the
shares they previously could after doing so . I have
checked the 5 FSMO roles and they all appear present on
the DC. I did recently have to transfer the 5 FSMO roles
from another DC. The global catalog is also present on
this server

Any suggestions appreciated

They are unable to access shares after the change password and the
logout/in? Or, they change their password then lose access to shares
(without logging out)?

If the former, what kind of shares are these - hosted on a server, a 9X box,
file/printer?

If the latter, it is simply because Windows caches the credentials used to
connect to shared resources. If you change your password, Windows doesn't
realize the cache is out of date and tries to use the outdated password
(which is, of course, wrong now). The braindead way around this problem is
to tell users to log out and back in after changing their password.

Of course, you can also re-authenticate to the shared resources with the new
password, and this will work just as well. (Look into the NET USE command to
do that.)
