Useful feature removed from XP?

Pre-XP, one used to be able to search for all files created OR
modified in the last x days. Now it seems you can only search for the
modifieds. Why on earth did they remove the option of looking for just
the createds? It was SO useful!

Hi,

It wasn't removed, it's just a bit more difficult to find. In advanced
options, under "modified by", choose "specific dates" and you will find in
the dropdown menu that you can change from modify to created.

Why it was put that way, I do not know.

This feature is available using the Classic search interface. Click Date, in the drop down select files Created, and choose "in the last xxx days. I don't use the little dog to do my searching, so don't know if that's avaiable there.

Classic search can be enabled in TweakUI for Windows XP, in the Explorer section.

Please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all caps, as you have
done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is considered very rude
by a large number of people. More importantly, posting in all caps
makes the post harder to read, further reducing your chances of getting
help; a great many people won't even try to read such a message. If you
really want help, simply comply with the dictates of common courtesy and
the conventions of the milieu.

The feature has not been removed; you need only have looked a bit more
closely. After all, isn't creation the ultimate form of modification?
Open Search, turn off the silly cartoon character, and use Advanced
Search options. Select "When was it Modified > Specify Dates > Created...

Why are you apologizing for someone else?

Paul, I think that we all understand that it can be frustrating to receive a
reply that is not in the least helpful. I neither know nor care whether or
not Shenan has a valid point. Nevertheless, although he wasn't helpful,
shouting like that is not going to help in the least. Whereas if you
addressed the problem sensibly, referring to the individual involved, you
would probably garner support and sympathy for your situation, the tactic of
intentionally shouting and being belligerent will not help you in any
fashion. Not all Americans are the same... just as not all Europeans,
Greeks, Armenians, Chinese, etc. are the same.
Saying that Americans are an arrogant race? Americans are actually many,
many races. Perhaps you meant that Americans are an arrogant people... but
if that was true, why is it that Americans are the first country to help out
in any instance of tragedy worldwide? The tsunami that hit last year?
Americans rushed to their aid. Do you recall the horrible plight of the
Ethiopians back in the 80's? Americans rushed to their aid. The vast
majority of rescue / aid operations are spearheaded by Americans. To say
that Americans are arrogant is simply to not pay any attention to world
events.
I have no idea whether this person had been trying to deflect attention from
his ignorance, but I suspect that he probably was annoyed by your
crossposting. If he was ignorant as to the solution and wished to hide it,
he would simply have not responded at all. Besides, it seems a little bit
silly that you are accusing him of being ignorant when you, yourself, had
posted requesting help for the problem.
I, myself, would gladly have helped you had others not already helped you.
Would you be so kind as to thank them for their help? Also, apologizing for
insulting an entire nation, based upon a disliked response from one person,
would be nice, and it would make the people in this newsgroup be much
happier to help you out. It's okay to not like one person, but to insult an
entire nation? Americans created the Internet; were it not for Americans,
you would not be able to use the technology you are enjoying today. I can
go on and on, but I truly do not wish to antagonize you. Yes, I am an
American, and I am aware that many Americans originate from other nations...
but they are now Americans, after all. I truly hope that nobody decided to
ignore you completely -- some people do that, however... they see somebody
ranting and just put them on Ignore, without trying to reason with them. I
decided to try to reason with you, in the hope that you will see that (1)Not
all Americans are rude (as a matter of fact, many of us love to help
others -- I am one of them), and (2) your faulty logic and ranting may cause
even other non-Americans to decide not to help you. So, what do you say...
friends? :-)

-- Eric

PS: Although I extraordinarily insulted by your statement that you are,
basically, glad about 9/11, I will choose to believe that you are basically
blowing off some steam and don't truly mean that. Your response to this
message, or lack of a response, will help to determine how many people see
you and choose to help you... so I truly hope you will be kind in your
response and reason like a man.

Take Care,
Eric

I just felt I should. Can't see how 9/11 should be mentioned in an arcane
argument about a computer program. For the record, the vast majority of us
over this side of the water still feel immense sympathy about what happened
that day.

Ah whaddya gonna do? Besides, anyone that thinks Americans are a "race"
can't be all that intelligent.
